OT-ISAC Established Partnership with Siemens Energy

Singapore – 9 September 2021 - Operational Technology Information Sharing and Analysis Center (OT-ISAC) has announced that Siemens Energy has joined its network of Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) owners, operators, and industry practitioners as an Alliance Partner. Siemens Energy’s deep expertise as an OEM and cybersecurity solutions and services providers helps to bolster Operational Technology (OT) security among energy companies in Singapore and greater Asia Pacific.

In an increasingly digital world, CII companies face complex technological and economic challenges in monitoring, detecting, and preventing cyberattacks.

OT-ISAC, a threat information sharing hub for companies working in CII, uses proven tools and technologies to aid member companies as they exchange details of OT and IT threats and attacks on their organizations, enabling them to prevent and quickly recover from damage caused by malicious actors. In 2020 alone, the OT-ISAC reported a record 450 ransomware incidents impacting organizations across industries including energy.

“Siemens Energy is an important new partner for OT-ISAC. They are the first Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) company to come onboard and equipped with an extensive presence in every aspect of the energy supply chain – from generation and transmisison, to storage and technology development,” said John Lee, OT-ISAC Managing Director. “With their global footprint and broad capabilities in industrial cybersecurity, it makes sense for our organizations to work in concert to improve the cybersecurity of the energy sector.”

Through the OT-ISAC Alliance Partner Programme, Siemens Energy will work closely with like-minded partners on proven methodologies, tested solutions and successful approaches to optimize cyber resilience and reduce risk. By sharing timely tactical security details, members reap the benefits of early detection and insight into the management and containment of cyber threats.

“We are glad to join this regional information-sharing network as an intuitive step to strengthen and refine our cybersecurity practices, driving greater resilience and operational efficiency,” said Mex Martinot, Siemens Energy Vice President & Regional Head Asia of Industrial Cyber & Digital Security. “In an increasingly volatile and sophisticated digital landscape, it is essential that we build up data collection and collaborative analysis capabilities across the critical infrastructure sectors in Asia Pacific. Through the collaboration with OT-ISAC, Siemens Energy intends to support members by securing the technology at the heart of member operations and strengthen the collective response to ICS cyber threats.”

OT-ISAC continues to actively accept new members and intelligence or technology partners, as part of its commitment to upholding the security of asset owners and operators and the advancement of resilience in greater Asia Pacific.
“Siemens Energy is a leader in digitalization, electrification, automation and industrial cybersecurity,” added Lee. “We’re pleased to be partnering with them to ensure a safer, more secure, and more resilient region.”
